Leaning against the foothills of the Plantaurel mountain range, the village of Carla de Roquefort is built around a mound at the top of which the church, a restored edifice, dominates the Douctouyre gorges.
The ruins of Castelas castle and remnants of the rampart are reminders of the area's feudal and warlike past.
